Nave Arcade Game is a retro styled arcade game created by two indies and a latin american community of artists. The graphics are entirely monochrome pixel art, perfectly suiting the classic survival space-shooter, or as they prefer to call it, a “resistance” game. It evokes memories of many of the games I grew up on, but interestingly this game is only available to play on the arcade to make you appreciate the complete experience.
Videogamo, Inc. brings you NAVE, a survival space-shooter, or, as we call it, a “resistance” game. Grow your spaceship and resist as much time as you can by dodging and shooting enemies, grabbing power-ups and controlling difficulty by using the “Turbo” feature.
For those that can speak Spanish there is a series of developer diary videos. Otherwise the first video below is an extensive interview with Tom Garcia and Nando Sarmiento on the making of the game and their inspiration. The stylish trailer for the game follows.
Naughty Dog have released the second in their Development Series for the upcoming PS3 game, The Last of Us. Titled Wasteland Beautiful, it is a look at the post-apocalyptic style environments from initial concept art through to moody lighting of each scene. The ‘overgrown cities’ theme has long been a fascination for artists and movie makers alike, imagining how nature would take back the urban jungle after mankind has gone. The dev team in the Santa Monica based studio clearly relished the chance to express their creative take on the genre.
Explore the game world, the environments, and the concept artistry at work in the second video of The Last of Us Development series.
The Last of Us is genre-defining experience blending survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Cities are abandoned and being reclaimed by nature. Remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a young teenage girl who’s braver and wiser beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

We’re back, after a brief hiatus, with an array of ‘Behind The Scenes’ videos. I must admit that I sometimes prefer the ‘making of’ on a special edition Blu Ray to the actual film itself, and it’s no different with games. It’s great to see the array of different talents that are ruthlessly exploited employed together to create a ‘triple A’ game.
