The internet is awash with news of leaked concept art from Bungie’s follow-up to the all-conquering Halo 4. Bungie have confirmed the new game, called ‘Destiny’, over on IGN. The artwork reflects Bungie’s aim “to create a universe as deep, tangible and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise.” They feature overgrown ruins of earths infrastructure and organic, almost steampunk looking alien vehicles. The most striking image is the giant alien spaceship hovering over earth. A white moon-like sphere, possibly under construction? That’s no moon!

You need to have a gander at the London Games Festival 2012 which “celebrates the culture of games and the hugely creative talent within the interactive entertainment industry “.
The Games Art Exhibition boasts a unique collection of artwork featuring some beautiful and stunning concept art from a variety of videogames. Best of all, most of the art on display is available to buy on eBay, for those blessed with a wad of spare cash, with all proceeds going to the wonderful Special Effect charity.
There’s an interview on Motionographer with Jon Saunders, Creative Director at Psyop, who worked on the beautifully haunting Dishonored prequels. Designed to look like ink illustrations in motion, the animations tell the folklore from the dark and murky past of Dunwall. A staggering 3000 hand painted frames were created in just 3 months. They also show plenty of concept art, animation tests and discuss the process pipeline.
I recently discovered Evolution Studio’s Concept Source blog via Evo Art Director Simon O’Brien. It hosts a large selection of concept and character art from the past decade featuring an array of talented artists including Rachel Norton, Alex Figini, Steve Hird and Paul Dolan. The work covers the current Motostorm franchise as well as the old World Rally Championship series. Go and take a look.
1313 looks like the kind of Star Wars game I could really get on board with. An FPS exploring the dystopian underside of Coruscant that really does promise to be a hive of scum and villainy. Have a look through the lovely, gritty concept art.
High Moon Studios have just released new concept art and screenshots for Deadpool. The game features Marvel’s Merc With A Mouth, and judging by the trailer looks like following very much in the Duke Nukem standard of pubescent humour. However, the character visuals look good and I love the comic panel style of the concept art.
