Bethesda Softworks have released a ridiculously epic cinematic trailer for The Elder Scrolls Online – The Alliances. The level of detail is astonishing and will obviously bear no resemblance to the actual gameplay visuals. Definitely worth five minutes of your time.
PLATIGE Image, the Warsaw based Visual Effects house, have uploaded a great deal of development material from Cyberpunk 2077 on their Behance page. The videogame developed with CD Projekt RED is based on the work by Mike Pondsmith in the 80’s and 90’s. The original inspiration for the story was his desire to recreate the technology and dark, film noir style of Blade Runner. That influence in the game artwork is unmistakable. Take a look through the concept art, character at, environment art, 3D work and some nice user interface graphics as well.
Far Cry 3 character art created by concept artist Bruno Gauthier for Ubisoft Montreal. There is some great artwork here with a real sense of personality being expressed by the characters. Note the intricate tattoo art on several of the characters as well. Bruno has worked on several games in the past, most notably Splinter Cell Conviction (see here, here and here).

Take a look at some Dark Souls 2 concept art created by From Software for Namco Bandai. It features some gruesome character art with plenty of skeletons, with obligatory glowing cavities. There are fat armoured dwarves with massively oversized axes. Evil black hench horses pulling a chariot that’s been kitted-out Mordor style. We also see a couple of beautifully eerie looking environments.
After a short New Year hiatus AOTG is back and there is loads to catch up on. First up is the God of War Ascension concept art created by Sony’s Santa Monica Studio. They depict the game environments containing sandy hued rocky outcrops set against grey blue skies. The carpeted rooftops over market stalls and Arabic style buildings cut into cliff sides give way to massive animal head carvings in the rock face.
